2000 AC Cobra CRS

3000 Miles from New | 3 Former Keepers | 1 of Just 37 Factory-Built AC Cobra CRS Models

Unveiled by AC Cars at the 1999 London Motor Show, the Mk IV Cobra Carbon Road Series (CRS) represented a significant new chapter in the marque's illustrious history. Built upon the same proven chassis and powertrain as its aluminium-bodied Superblower sibling, the CRS features the renowned 4-inch ladder-frame chassis derived from the legendary 427 Mk III Cobra of the 1960s.

Its defining characteristic is its lightweight carbon-fibre bodywork, developed in collaboration with the highly successful Kid Jensen Racing Formula 3000 team. This advanced composite construction allowed AC Cars to blend timeless Cobra styling with contemporary engineering and enhanced performance.

Power is provided by a fuel-injected 5.0-litre V8 producing 225bhp at 4,200rpm. Combined with the lightweight carbon-fibre body, the CRS offers an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 211bhp per tonne, delivering exhilarating performance with 0–60mph achieved in well under 5.5 seconds.

Transmission is via a 5-speed manual gearbox, shared with the Superblower, while a Hydratrak limited-slip differential, independent front and rear suspension, rack-and-pinion steering, and four-wheel disc brakes ensure the driving experience is every bit as engaging as the performance suggests. Ventilated front discs with four-piston AP Racing calipers provide exceptional stopping power.

In every respect, the Mk IV Cobra CRS remains faithful to the spirit of the original Cobra, combining iconic styling with modern engineering and advanced composite construction.

This exceptional example has covered just 3,000 miles from new and is believed to be one of only 37 factory-built CRS models produced. Having remained in the current ownership since 2014 as part of a significant private collection, it has been maintained by the owner's in-house collection managers, with further specialist maintenance supported by an accompanying history file.

Importantly, the car remains completely to its original factory specification, verified by the original AC Cars factory ledger, which is retained here at Brooklands. Presented in remarkable condition throughout, the carbon-fibre bodywork is virtually unmarked and the car is supplied complete with its weather equipment, which remains in near-new condition.

An exceptionally rare opportunity to acquire one of the most exclusive and technically advanced factory-built AC Cobras ever produced.
