2000 AC Cobra CRS

- 3 former keepers
- 6600 miles from new
- Upgraded 350bhp engine

Launched by AC Cars at the 1999 London Motor Show, the Mk. IV Cobra Carbon Road Series (CRS) marked a new chapter in Cobra history. The CRS is based on the chassis and powertrain of its aluminium-bodied sibling, the Superblower, which shares the same 4-inch ladder chassis as the iconic 427 Mk3 from the 1960s. However, the CRS stands apart with its cutting-edge carbon-fibre body, developed in collaboration with Kid Jensen Racing, the successful F3000 team.

The CRS is powered by a 5.0L V8 fuel-injected engine, originally producing 225bhp at 4200rpm, which translates to a power-to-weight ratio of 211 bhp/ton. Performance is electrifying, with 0-60mph achieved in well under 5.5 seconds. The car is equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission, the same as found in the Superblower, alongside a Hydratrak limited-slip differential, independent front and rear suspension, rack and pinion steering, and all-around disc brakes (with 4-pot AP Racing brakes and ventilated discs at the front). In every respect, the CRS remains a true Cobra.

Ordered new through renowned Ferrari dealer Talacrest, chassis number 9522 was specified in the classic colour scheme of blue with white stripes and a black interior. In its early years, the car was meticulously maintained by marque specialist Uniclip Automotive. However, following a change of ownership in 2004, the original 225bhp engine was deemed insufficient, and the car was reborn as the "B3AST," which it proudly wore as its number plate for a period. A 325bhp Ford engine was installed, along with a standalone OMEX ECU and a custom exhaust system. In addition, handling upgrades were fitted to improve the car's performance.

Despite the relatively low mileage, the car has been comprehensively serviced throughout its life. The extensive history file includes service records and magazine articles written by the previous owner. Having formed part of a small collection in recent years, the car will be supplied with its original 16-inch wheels.
