* Matching-numbers example
* One of just 776 UK-market right-hand-drive Series 2 OTS models produced
* Original Signal Red with black trim and hood
* Single ownership from 1993 to 2026
Jaguar introduced the 4.2-litre E-Type in October 1964, combining increased torque and stronger acceleration with a fully synchromesh gearbox and improved Lockheed brake servo. In 1968, the model evolved into the Series 2, gaining open headlights, enlarged lighting, a larger radiator intake, a collapsible steering column and rocker switches.
This original UK-market, right-hand-drive Series 2 Roadster was manufactured on 12 May 1970 and supplied through H.R. Owen and Henlys of London on 11 June. Its Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirms its original Signal Red bodywork, black interior and black hood, together with chassis number 1R 1715, engine number 7R 12715-9 and original registration EGJ 117J.
With just six former keepers, the E-Type remained with Mr Woodrow from 1993 until 2026. Its recorded mileage of a little over 80,000 miles is believed genuine and is supported by physical MOT certificates dating back to 1991 and an extensive history file.
The records document continuous upkeep, including regular servicing and attention to the brakes, carburettors, ignition, cooling system, suspension, steering, clutch and electrics. Earlier body and trim work included replacement rear wings, sill sections, boot floor, lower rear panels, chromework and a replacement hood.
The car will return from its current registration, 7 AVA, to its original registration, EGJ 117J, as part of the sale.
Its original specification, matching-numbers credentials and exceptional long-term ownership make this a particularly appealing Series 2 Roadster.
