Elva Courier Mk II 1960
Chassis No: 20031RK / Registration: 196NBH
This Elva Courier Mk II was originally purchased on 17th May 1960 as a knock-down kit by its first owner and was subsequently registered. The car saw some competition activity during its early years. It was originally finished in silver and powered by a 1588cc engine.
The second owner acquired the car on 25th October 2004. At that time, it had been repainted yellow and was equipped with an 1860cc engine.
From October 2004 to April 2005, the car underwent a comprehensive rebuild and race preparation. This work was carried out on the bare chassis by Cottage Classics Ltd / Ginetta Heritage. Approximately £45,000 was invested in restoration and development over a period of five years.
In June 2005, the car participated in its first race in the Equipe GTS series at Dijon, France. From June 2005 to October 2009, the car competed in over 30 races across 5 seasons with Equipe GTS. Races included various UK and Continental circuits such as Spa, Dijon, Zolder, Zandvoort, Le Mans Bugatti, and others. The car was progressively developed throughout this period.
In October 2009, the car was laid up and remained out of action until August 2019, when it underwent a comprehensive recommissioning at a cost of £8,000. This work, including a track test and rolling road tuning, was carried out by Chequered Flag Classics.
