1959 Facel Vega HK500 -SOLD-
HK Y4: original spec ‘Belco metallichrome Silver Po 31/2300’ (there was a range of factory colours but you could in fact choose any colour from anywhere – this one was a unique special order) with bright red interior, rhd, auto, power steering, 3.31 rear axle, Borrani disc wheels, disc brakes (by this stage standard for the UK though not yet for elsewhere), body or production nº 545, engine (383ci/6286cc – by this stage standard for HKs) TY7 29277 – single carb as standard for autos. I do not have the date of first registration, but this will have been in November or December 1959. We do not know the first owner – it looks as if he was a Lancastrian (possibly an inhabitant of Blackpool) who had a personal number, as the first known number was 248 WTE, which dates from the last quarter of 1961 – The original owner kept the car for about two years was par for the course. Bought in the late 1960s by Brian Timmins, who lives in Melbourne (Derbyshire. not Australia). from Derek Bottomley in Southport, which confirms the Lancashire connection, and sold by him after a couple of years to M.Ivey of Cliftonville, Kent. Next it went to Scotland and acquired the Glasgow registration RYS 900 – there was some belief that Baxters Soups or someone from the company was involved. Then it turned up parked in a front garden somewhere in Surrey (this would have been around 1977): can’t immediately remember what happened next but Alan Tollman acquired it not long after. Whence to we acquired it approximately twenty years ago with the intention of competing with it .
