160 bhp, 3,442 cc DOHC inline six-cylinder engine with dual SU carburettors, four-speed manual transmission, independent front suspension with transverse wishbones, elongated torsion bars, and an anti-roll bar, rigid rear axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs, and front and rear brakes. Wheelbase: 2,600 mm
The XK120 was unquestionably one of the finest sports cars of its day, as its chassis provided amazing handling and its engine delivered record-breaking top speed. Factory test driver Ron Sutton drove one to a speed of over 130 mph on a Belgian road, proving that its name was actually an understatement of the car’s performance credentials and it was definitely not a marketing exaggeration. Jaguar’s 3.4-litre straight-six is perhaps one of the greatest engine designs of all time, and it would prove so successful that the company would retain its basic design for use in their road going cars for nearly 40 years.
The Motorcar in question, was manufactured on the 13th August 1952 at the Brown Lane Factory. It was built for export for the Hornburg,USA dealership, in the specification of Red body colour with Biscuit Leather trim. The Jaguar was repatriated by the present owner in 1989, sporting the white body colour.
The motorcar has been subject to extensive upkeep over the custodians thirty years of ownership. There has been reliability and practicality upgrades made throughout the motorcar including uprated suspensions set up throughout with uprated rear leaf springs assisted with the rear Koni suspension kit, matching the front end’s Koni telescopics.

-Cylinder Head uprated to ‘B’ specification
-H8 2” Carburettors
-Stainless Steel Exhaust
Uprated Brake drum linings
Further works were carried out between 1989 and 2014 including a full engine rebuild, with a replacement block. The original block is available with the vehicle
In October 2015 an extensive restoration amounting to over had been carried out by marque experts Rothwell Engineering, Cornwall.
This included comprehensive work throughout the vehicle of which is covered in a six page report,. All aspects of the vehicle were covered including bodywork, electrical, supsension and additional minor engine and carburettor work.
Most recently the roadster has been been subject to a re trim, including hood and tonneau, by Mike Thomas Trimming of Petersfield.
This motorcar is one of the finest examples of XK roadsters we have seen here at Brooklands, and it would be a great candidate for European rallies in the coming summer months.
